Demo Update - Improved Menus, bugfixes.


Hi folks!

Here's our first real update after the Kickstarter! We've been tackling issues discovered by new playtesters, adding a few quality of  life features, and in general just making the playtest process easier.

This update was focused on eliminating menu softlocks, improving the main menu, and polishing the tutorial menu interaction. The main menu especially is quite a bit improved, with the save system now accessible along with the settings menu. Both may have some hiccups though, so make sure to report any funny behavior (many of the settings may also not be 100% implemented).

Also, if you wish to try out the different difficulty settings, you may now do so in the settings! Just be sure to change them before you start a new game! You can find this in the "Gameplay" section of the settings, then scroll down.

A bunch of little changes were made in this update, so I'll be releasing a hotfix if folks find any game-breaking bugs! The next goal will be to make sure the new skip function works properly, add an option to skip the intro entirely, and change up the prologue a bit to start chasing that "MVP" for each battle. Once we have an idea of this, we'll start playtesting Chapters 1 & 2 to make sure they match up with this vision :D

Additions:

  • Re-added the Load menu to the main menu interface with the latest improvements.
  • Added the settings menu to the main menu interface. Made fancy "astral" GUI elements for the menu.
  • Added a "hold to skip" function for scenes (Needs more testing!).
  • Added a fancy border to the Tutorial button and made in larger/easier to press. 
  • Added a fancy border to the Objectives button and made it larger/easier to press.
  • Both the Objectives/Tutorial buttons now show up with the general menu (selecting an open spot). They also now close when any other significant action is taken, and close when canceling.
  • Can now scroll up/down on tutorials that exceed the window size. Longer tutorials no longer clip at the bottom.

Fixes

  • Fixed unit's not resetting when starting a new game.
  • Fixed a softlock with Yaviira when she orders her raiders to attack.
  • Fixed multiple softlocks with menus when canceling out of them.
  • Fixed buttons highlighting when they shouldn't when the tutorial window is open.
  • Player is now victorious as soon as they win an Arena battle.
  • Fixed a lot of Main Menu interactions, specifically the menu scrolling and button pressing.
